Definitions

In the EU, regulatory monitoring has become a crucial issue in the context of European economic integration. The EU regulation has a profound impact on how companies large and small.

The directive is a legal act taken by the European Council of the European Union with the Parliament. Collegial body which exercises the legislative power (adoption of laws and executive control). It binds the States to which the directive on the objective, but leave the choice of means and form to achieve this goal within the time fixed by it.

Member States must transpose the directive into national law. This is writing or editing texts of national law to enable the achievement of the goal set by the Directive and to abolish legislation that could be inconsistent with this objective. The non-implementation of a directive may be an infringement procedure before the Court of Justice of the European Union. Member States have a duty to inform the Commission about the measures taken to implement the directive.

The guidelines are published in the Official Journal. The guidelines come into force on the date specified, or if the 20th day following its publication.

The regulation is a European legal act. In general, it is mandatory in all its provisions: Member States are obliged to implement as defined by the regulation. The Regulation is directly applicable in the legal systems of Member States.Only measures under Regulation may be taken by the authorities of the Member States.

It applies to all areas of law: individuals, states and institutions. This differs from the decision, other European Act mandated in all its provisions, but only to designated recipients.
